Elias De La Garza personal commitment:

“I made a commitment to my wife when I vowed to honor and respect her.  I make that same commitment to my fellow citizens as I pursue my candidacy as a democrat to the Texas House of Representatives in District 145.”

Robert Kennedy said, “There are those who look at things the way they are and ask why…I dream of things that never were and ask, why not”.  Again I say to you, dare to make a difference.  As your state representative, “I vow to honor and respect the office, and to work hard to create a consensus among business and civic leaders to build a better quality of life.  My office will be an open door to you, my constituents, to represent you”. Why not?

Hello! I am Elias De La Garza and I want to welcome you to my website.  I hope to be your next State Representative for District 145.  I want to share a little about myself and what my focus will be once I am elected.  I want you to know that I can better represent you in District 145.   With your help I plan to bring change and a better community for all district residents.

For most of my life I have lived and worked in the district and will continue to do so.  I have been a Houstonian all my life.  I graduated from Stephen F. Austin and the University of Houston-Downtown.  My family and I are residents of Idylwood Subdivision and I have my insurance agency within the district.  Along with my family, I attend community events regularly and know community leaders on a first name basis.  My wife Esther and I are constantly involved in and support community events to ensure that our children Seth and Joy are raised in a great community.

Having grown up in the area has enabled me to know the issues affecting us everyday.  Throughout the years I have learned that working with others and building a consensus helps the community and our neighborhoods move forward.   Having a family of my own and realizing the direction in which our district is going, made me decide to step up to the plate and do what I can to make a change. It’s time for me to give back to the district that has given so much to me and my family. That being said, I will always have my door open if you would like to speak with me regarding issues affecting our community to try and get them resolved.  That door will never close, even when I am elected; once elected I plan on maintaining my focus on the betterment of the district.  I am committed and dedicated to fulfilling the needs of the residents.

My 5 point plan:

  • Education for our children: I will fight to make sure that the proper funding is given to the school districts in District 145.  We must educate our children! By educating our children we will be able to increase the middle class.

  • Healthcare: I will work with the legislature to make sure our children have the healthcare they need as well as all residents that do not have affordable healthcare benefits.

  • Flood Control: Working in the legislature will enable me to bring solutions to the issues affecting the residents.

  • Environment: I will work with industry leaders to clean up the air that we breathe everyday.

  • Economic Development: By attracting more business to our district we will be able to bring more jobs and contracts to the people of our district.

I want to thank you so much for your support!

Sincerely,

Elias De La Garza
